Remember me? Girl Friday? Yeah, I forgot about me too. Here’s a little Q & A to help us get reacquainted.

What is your occupation? Undergraduate Advisor, aka Girl Friday
What color are your socks right now? White with little pieces of sushi all over them!
What are you listening to right now? Tegan and Sara
What was the last thing you ate? Peanut M&Ms
Can you drive a stick shift? I’m sure I could if I ever learned 😉
Last person you spoke to on the phone? The BF
Do you like the person who sent this to you? Notorious M.A.G. rocks!
How old are you today? 26. Ick.
Favorite drink? Hm…so many to choose from. I used to LOVE Clearly Canadian. Whatever happened to it!?
Favorite sport to watch? Ice Skating
Pets? River, my darling kitty that I’m enamored with.
Favorite food? The kind I don’t have to cook. Seriously. Okay, this creamy sesame dressing from my fave Japanese place that I would roll around in if you gave me of a vat of it.
What was the last movie you watched? Hairspray, the Ricki Lake version. None of this Zaquisha bizness.
What’s your favorite day of the week? Saturday
How do you vent anger? I curse while venting…a few good F-this and F-thats makes me feel better.
What was your favorite toy as a child? A stuffed dog that I affectionately called Dog.
What is your favorite season? Spring because you can wear some things from winter and some things from summer 🙂
Hugs or kisses? Yes, please!
Cherries or Blueberries? Cherries!
Do you want your friends to e-mail you back? Chain mail is so 90s. Hence I am posting this on my blog! It would be fun to see y’alls answers.
Who is the most likely to respond? Not sure.
Living arrangements? Approximately 1,000 square feet and a ginormous mortgage.
When was the last time you cried? Yesterday afternoon. I hate being the bearer of bad news.
What is on the floor of your closet? Shoes and handbags, almost neatly in their cubbies and bins.
Who is the friend you have had the longest that you are sending this to? I’ve known Lucky 10-Key since I was 8. I assume she’ll read this at some point.
What did you do last night? Hosted an Open House for the undergrads, grad students, and faculty. It went smashingly well!
Favorite smells? Yummy cologne and the rose garden are top!
What inspires you? Music, Oprah, raw emotion.
What are you afraid of? Dying before I see more of the world. I swear I will haunt you and go on your family vacations, especially if you’re going to Iceland or Paris.
Favorite dog breed? Scotties and Poodles, but I’ve never had a dog so what do I know.
How many states have you lived in? One. The best one though!
Favorite Holiday? Halloween for the fun, Thanksgiving for the food, Christmas for the decorations, and Valentines for the cards! 🙂

Hard Days Work

My absolute absence can only mean one thing. School is about to start!

The last month has been more than a little all-consuming. The first thing to go in terms of how I spend my day at work are my blog breaks. Not only have I not been writing, but I haven’t been reading either. Actually, I have perused but haven’t had the time to really absorb and comment. I hope things will change soon, because I miss The Internet a lot.

A few things have been keeping me going lately. I will now make a list! Woohoo! A list! In no particular order…

My Gal Pals. Two of my girlies had birthdays this month—Violet the Bohemian and Notorious M.A.G. Love to both of you for your day and all year long.
Perez Hilton. For shame for shame! It’s a filthy habit, but one I’m not likely to break!
Etsy. I like to look at all the cool stuff artsy people come up with—whether it’s repurposed shirts, refurbished mugs, or handmade papergoods. Yay for the crafty peeps!
Carbonation. I dig Italian Sodas, Fresca, Diet Dr. Pepper, and the standard D.C. (Diet Coke). Everything with bubbles is cool by me.
Bargain shopping. I got a dress at Costco that I love, and some cute work wear at Sears. Don’t diss it, ladies. Everyone loves a deal. Besides, I’m saving money for shoes (I never, ever skimp on those).
River. My kitty says hi. She’s a doll. I’m officially a Krazy Kat Lady.
Ice Cream. Two great flavors I tried recently really are worth writing home about: Caramel Cone and Black Raspberry Chip. Eat up!
Tegan & Sara. Can’t wait to see them play live. There is nothing in the world like a live performance.
Reading. I’m reading Harry Potter and Sense & Sensibility right now. I like to live in many different worlds all at the same time. That’s how I roll.
TV! The new fall season is upon us! What’s not to love about that!?

A Cat Named River

The BF and I got our first pet this weekend! We brought home a precious, two year old stray. She’s an Abyssinian cat from a rescue sanctuary. We’ve named her River, after River Tam from Firefly and Serenity. After bringing her home we had to run out for an hour to get some stuff. We left her in the kitchen, but when we came back she was no where to be found! But then we heard a meow and there she was, on top of the fridge, in a very River Tam like pose. Also, she apparently likes water and learned to turn on the faucet. I hope she doesn’t flood the place while we’re at work!

She likes to be pet and thinks she’s a dog. She keeps licking us with her sandpaper tongue. She’s not quite a lap cat yet, but she’s still adjusting. She loves to play with her hot pink mouse (I think the Pink Fairy would approve). She pretends she’s “caught” it and plays with it in her beds (a fluffy blue one and a large basket the rescue place sent home with us). After a while she forgets what she did with it and goes hunting for it.
